    Yes! The number of stores and the complexity of the information that you wish to send between Head Office and stores governs whether the POSperfect Multi-Store module or the Corporate Controller would be better for you.

























  • That depends on the hardware you are using (processor speed, ram and disk size). Refer to our "hardware" section on the sidebutton.

























    No. But the faster your processor and the more RAM (Random Access Memory) you have the quicker the system will work. If in doubt about running POSperfect on existing hardware refer to our "hardware" sidebutton.

























    POSperfect Licence type comes in three 'styles';

    Starter Pack - A low capital cost product designed for the very small business,  the business just starting out or the business wishing to try a POS system for the first time. The functionality is resticted to selected modules only, running on a maximum of three terminals per site and three sites. Any upgrading in Modules means a reversion to a new Licence type and selection of modules. This Licence is not available in some countries.

    Limited - This is an 'off the shelf' product that can be optimised to the users functional requirements by selecting differing 'module sets'. See Module Sets. The user can change any of the configuration switches within the Setup section to suit their style of business but there can be NO software modification done to suit a particular user. What you see is what you get.

    Open - This has the same features/modules as the Limited Licence but the software can be modified to suit the user and their business. While some modifications are reflected in later releases of the software, the majority remain specific to the user that requested and paid for the addition.

























    Older versions of the software can! POSperfect now uses Firebird database which require the size and power of (at least) Windows 2000 machines.  So your hardware should be upgraded to handle the power requirements of Today's program if you want to upgrade (See hardware). Be aware that Microsoft no longer supports Windows 2000.

























  • If I buy this software now and you change it next year, will you give me the new version?

    Every user that elects to contract a Software Maintenance agreement with Today Software gets an upgrade to their system when a major release appears.

























  • What does your support agreement cover?

    The Standard Support agreement covers telephone Help Desk support during business hours (8:00am - 5:30pm Mon-Fri). The Open Support agreement covers on-site assistance during business hours(but not travel or accomodation expenses). Contact Today Software ("Contact Us") for a copy and costings of the specific Support and Maintenance Agreement that would suit you.

























  • Does your system produce barcodes for me?

    Yes! POSperfect can produce barcodes in either the vendor number or create an 'in-house' numbering system. For hardware requirements refer to our "hardware" sidebutton.

























  • How often do you upgrade your system?

    POSperfect is being modified all the time. Major releases, however, come through from time to time and are dependent on software development requirements in the marketplace.

























  • Is POSperfect easy to use?

    Our customers tell us that is the case! We are especially proud of this facet of our product.

























  • Will my existing printer work with POSperfect?

    Most Windows type printers (with drivers) can be utilised with POSperfect. Refer to our "hardware" sidebutton.

























  • Do I need a special keyboard?

    No. The normal windows keyboard is quite sufficient.  You may decide to purchase a POS keyboard with a swipe card slot to reduce the number of devices on your counter.

























  • Do the terminals talk to one another or just to the server?

    The Master terminal is constantly being updated by the secondary terminals in the system. This information is then immediately available to all other terminals connected within the LAN.

























  • Will POSperfect run on Vista or Windows 7?

    Definitely. POSperfect is running in-store on both (on either Home or Professional versions).

























  • Will POSperfect run on a Mac Computer?

    We have users running POSperfect through Windows emulation programs.

























  • Does POSperfect support Price Embedded Barcodes?

    Depending on the version - POSperfect supports both Price and Weight Embedded barcodes. Weigh label scales do differ so it is NOT 'plug and play'. Contact us for more information.
